What's new in Windows 11:
- Windows 11 gets a completely new design. Microsoft clearly needed a good reason to reverse its previous claims and still leave Windows 10 with the introduction of a new operating system number. And the new design is great for that. The Redmond giant has long been preparing for a redesign for updates under the code name Sun Valley ("Sun Valley") - apparently, under this name Windows 11. The Sun Valley project has been on the web for a long time - Microsoft regularly discloses details of the new interface style, insiders share previously unknown information and popular designers in their circles draw realistic concepts based on all this data.
- Startup and system items float above the bottom bar. Start is the calling card and face of every current version of Windows. Unsurprisingly, developers are going for another redesign in Windows 11, though not in a functional sense as in a visual sense - the Start window floats in the bottom bar. We have to admit that this small change makes the system look fresher. Judging by the information from the network, Microsoft is not going to radically change the "inside" of this menu - the innovations will only affect the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float and the design will be exactly the same as "Start". The action center is combined with the control buttons - similar ones have long been used in several other operating systems. Almost any mention of this new menu suggests it will be an island menu - control buttons will be in a separate panel, notifications in another, and certain items (such as players) in another separate panel.
- Right angles disappear and are replaced by curves. Actually, insiders and concept designers are divided on this - some are convinced that Microsoft will not change its traditions and maintain the right point of view, while others are sure that Microsoft will follow the fillet style in 2021. The latter fits the definition of "all new Windows" " is better - floating menus alone are not enough to make new designs completely new. Files are expected to affect almost everything on the system, from context menus and system windows to all application windows. Indeed, the opinions of the concept designers also differ on this topic - some draw fillets in all possible surface elements, others combine them at right angles.
- There is a transparent background with blur everywhere. There is disagreement on the Internet about the island style of the shop window, the angular design and the floating effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the window. Most of the design leaks and renders show transparency and opacity in all windows, at least in the start menu or in the explorer. In addition, this effect is also in the compilation of the discontinued Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with dual screens and weak devices. The so-called acrylic transparency implies using new effects when hovering over elements, as well as enhancingspacing between elements – the area of the user interface that the user will interact with is certainly larger, and the page title will be thicker.
- New fonts that have been displayed. Windows 11 will most likely use the default responsive Segoe UI Variable font already included in Windows 10 Build 21376 for Insiders. The advantage is that it is equally suitable for both small text and large inscriptions. This differentiates it from standard fonts, which were originally created for small or large fonts. For example, the current stable release of Windows 10 uses the Segoe UI font designed for 9pt. With smaller inscriptions it becomes difficult to read, and with large ones it looks inexpressive.
- Windows 11 will have new icons and Windows 95 icons will disappear. Yes, they are still used today. Microsoft will eventually redesign the icons used throughout the system. It's not just about shortcuts to folders, recycle bin and other icons in Explorer. We are talking about all the symbols available in the Shell32 directory. There are still icons from the Windows 95 era, and Microsoft recently updated their designs in one of the Insider builds - of course they'll be migrating to Windows 11.
- Windows 11 will have functional innovations - there are a lot of them, but they are all small. Far less is known about the features of the upcoming update than about its design. But since Windows 11 and Windows 10X (discontinued operating systems for weak and foldable devices, whose images leaked to the network) were developed in parallel, we can safely assume that all the features of the latter will appear in Windows 11. For example, Windows 11 indicates, when the camera is used on a computer - the corresponding indicator is displayed on the taskbar.
